Abstract: The case looks at the growth phase of the Chinese start-up company JOKONON, acompany that works in the clean energy industry, founded in 2012 in Shanghai. Theorigin of the company dates back to its chairwoman Lily Zhang who had a vision toimprove the quality of Chinese products at home, and since then has been providingservices to other companies. Lily also had a vision for the company and the way leadersshould deal with employees. She was well aware of the talent shortage in China andstrongly believed that the company needed to be attractive for employees. One way ofdoing this was to maintain the innate agility of the company.
