EDUCATION BACKGROUND

  • From September 1978 to July 1982, he studied urban planning at Tongji University and obtained a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • From September 1982 to May 1985, he studied urban planning at Tongji University and obtained a master's degree in engineering.
  • From May 1985 to April 1988, he served as a lecturer in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University.
  • From April 1988 to February 1994, he studied urban and regional planning at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, and obtained a doctorate in engineering.

WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Teaching Positions

  • From February 1994 to October 1996, he served as the head researcher of the German Institute of Urban and Architecture in Berlin.
  • From November 1996 to May 1999, he served as the deputy director and associate professor of the Institute of Urban Planning and Architecture of Tongji University.
  • From June 1996 to August 2009, he served as the deputy dean, dean and professor of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University.
  • From 2003 to 2009, he served as the dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University.
  • From October 2004 to October 2010, he served as the chief planner of the Shanghai World Expo Coordination Bureau.
  • From May 2008 to December 2008, he served as the head of the expert group of reconstruction planning for the Chengdu disaster area of the Ministry of Construction.
  • From November 2010 to December 2014, he served as the Chief Planner of the Executive Committee of the 2014 Qingdao World Horticultural Exposition.
  • From September 2009 to September 2011, he served as assistant to the president of Tongji University [4].
  • In October 2011, he served as the vice president of Tongji University.
  • In November 2017, he was elected as an academician of the Department of Civil, Water Conservancy and Construction Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
