On January 5, 2019, he Alumni Council of Tongji SEM convened for the fifth alumni reunion and council member conference in Tongji Building A. Prof. Lei Xinghui, Vice President of Tongji University, attended the conference and conferred certificates to the new Council President Li Yuan and new Alumni Councilors Yang Baoming, Chen Bihua, Li Quanying, and Zhang Li. Cheng Dong, the Executive Chairman of the Alumni Council, chaired the conference. Jin Fuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji SEM, delivered a welcome speech. Dean Li Yuan made a report on the performance of Tongji SEM, and Cheng Guoping, Secretary-General of the Alumni Council, made a report on alumni works. Attending this conference are Zheng Xiaolei, Secretary-General of Tongji University Alumni Council; former Deans Huang Yuxiang and You Jianxin; former General Party Branch Secretary Wei Longxiang, and Vice Deans Ruan Qingsong, Cheng Mingwang, and Xie En.

Jin Fuan stated in his speech that in recent years, the SEM has made significant progress in the development of talent training, discipline construction, scientific research, social services, etc. In 2017, the management science and engineering discipline of the SEM received an A+ rating. We look forward to receive further advice from our alumni councilors for talent training and school-enterprise cooperation and seek more field practice opportunities for undergraduate education and professional degree teaching.

Li Yuan made a report on the situation of the SEM in 2018 at the conference. He gave a brief introduction to the development of the six important tasks around the four strategies (talent training, discipline construction and scientific research, talent team building, and internationalization), and expressed his gratitude to alumni and alumni companies for their multidimensional support for the SEM. He stressed that the new school-enterprise cooperation model can not only promote the training of talents in school but also help alumni companies grow stronger.

Cheng Guoping made a brief report on the performance of the Tongji SEM Alumni Council in the past two years. She elaborated on the two Five-year Plans for the work of the Alumni Council from 2012 to 2021, and presented the progress and achievements of SEM alumni work from 2017 to 2018 in terms of activities, alumni donations, school-enterprise cooperation, etc. and presented the Council’s work plan for the next year.

In the panel discussion session, the participants carried out detailed discussions on the work of the Alumni Council and school-enterprise cooperation. The alumni councilors had a lively discussion and put forward many valuable suggestions on the improvement of the quality and ability of graduates, the integration of college development and student, and the expansion of the school-enterprise cooperation model.

Finally, Jin Fuan and Li Yuan conferred certificates to the alumni mentors. The conference concluded successfully in a warm and peaceful atmosphere.
