Warm Messages for the Winter—Backtracking the Blue Ant Salon and Annual Conference 2018

Co-organized by the Alumni Council of Tongji SEM, Tongji MBA Alumni Council, Tongji Alumni Council of Investment and Financing, and Tongji Alumni Council of Entrepreneurs, the annual Blue Ant Salon was held at the Lecture Hall of Run Run Shaw Building of Tongji University in the afternoon on January 5. Themed on “Warm Messages for the Winter: Thoughts and Insights under the Current Economic Situation—Alumni Opinions on the Economic Outlook 2019”, the Blue Ant Salon 2018 was successfully concluded in a warm atmosphere, despite the rainy weather and low temperature.

A galaxy of over 130 alumni of Tongji SEM attended the salon. A number of leaders and guests attended the salon, including Li Yuan, Dean of Tongji SEM, Jin Fuan, Party Secretary of Tongji SEM, Professor Shi Qian, Deputy Director of Tongji SEM, Professor Zhong Ninghua, Head of the Department of Economics and Finance, Professor Ye Minghai, Former Head of the Department of Business Management, Dai Dayong, Deputy General Manager of Tongji Holdings, Wang Jin, Director of the Master Program of Finance of Tongji SEM, Gao Wenzhong, President of Tongji MBA Alumni Council, Yang Weiran, President of Tongji SEM Alumni Council of Entrepreneurs, and Liu Chunsong, President of Tongji Alumni Council of Investment and Financing.

Li Yuan, Director of Tongji SEM made an opening speech. He stated proudly that the reputation of Tongji SEM has been improving gradually in the academic community and the whole society over the years, and the quality of its education has been also widely recognized. He expressed that Tongji SEM will continue to enhance investment in teaching and foster synergy within Tongji alumni. At the end of his speech, Li Yuan wished this event a complete success. He also hoped that Tongji alumni could carry forward the spirit of Blue Ant and build a stronger community of entrepreneurs within the alumni through concerted efforts.

A number of guests gave keynote speeches after the opening speech, including Gao Wenzhong, from MBA Class of 1999 of Tongji SEM, CEO of CEA and President of Tongji MBA Alumni Council, Zhangli, from MBA Class 2009 of Tongji SEM, Founder of Jokoson Environment and Innovation as well as Entrepreneurship Tutor of Tongji Entrepreneurship Valley, Zhang Xiaofeng, former host of Xiaofeng Insights of CBN, and Chen Baosheng, Doctor of Management of Class 2001 of Tongji SEM, Postdoctoral of Finance of Fudan University, Vice Chairman of China Venture Capital Investment Committee, Part-time Tutor at Fudan University, and also a M&A deal maker.

Before the roundtable Q&A session, Professor Zhong Ninghua gave an impromptu speech to sum up the first half of the event and break start a good Q&A session. Later, guests on the stage answered questions raised by the alumni. The alumni was impressed and benefited a lot from the impressive interactions.

Q&A Session

Yang Weiran, President of Tongji SEM Alumni Council of Entrepreneurs made a concluding speech. By reviewing the history of the development of Blue Ant and sharing examples of mutual help among blue ants, he called for mutual trust and wished a bright future for all the participants. At last, he proposed to expand the alumni network and called for greater progress through more unity and efforts to jointly push forward the development of the alumni work.
