The Signing Ceremony of Tongji University YTO Education Award Fund and the Cooperation between Tongji School of Economics and Management and YTO Express, and the Theme Report “Destiny and the Times” Successfully Held
To welcome the 116th anniversary of Tongji University and deepen university-enterprise cooperation, the School of Economics and Management of Tongji University and YTO Group, a leader in the logistics industry, signed a cooperation memorandum and established the Tongji University YTO Education Award Fund on May 6th, “China Logistics Day”, officially launching a new chapter of cooperation between the two sides.
Lei Xinghui, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Tongji University; Liu Run, Assistant to the President, Director of the President’s Office, Director of the Office of External Liaison and Development, and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Tongji University Education Development Foundation; Yu Weijiao, Chairman of YTO Jiaolong Investment Development (Group) Co., Ltd., Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of YTO Express Co., Ltd.; Peng Ke, Vice President and Director of the President’s Office of YTO Group; Ye Feng, Vice President of YTO Group; Hong Yiwei, Director of the National Logistics Engineering Laboratory; Wu Jun, Assistant to the Chairman of YTO Group; Jiang Ze, Director of the Brand Center of YTO Group; and many other leaders and guests including Shi Qian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Xie En, Deputy Dean (in Charge of Work), and Wang Hongwei, Deputy Dean, attended the event to witness this important moment together.
Chairman Yu Weijiao was also invited to deliver a theme report titled Destiny and the Times, sharing his entrepreneurial life with Tongji students. Professor Xie En presided over today’s event.
In his speech, Lei Xinghui, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Tongji University, stated that at this critical stage of solidly advancing the implementation of the University’s “14th Five-Year Plan” and the new round of “Double First-Class” construction, Tongji University cannot do without the care and support of all sectors of society. The support from YTO Group will contribute to the University’s development. The signing of this cooperation marks another powerful measure for Tongji University to continuously deepen university-enterprise cooperation and promote the efficient integration of production, education, and research.
By working together, supporting each other, and leveraging their respective advantages, the two sides will surely achieve fruitful results in intelligent logistics, logistics information digital solutions, and other fields, providing strong support for the development of the logistics industry and contributing to the advancement of Chinese-style modernization.
Shi Qian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, expressed heartfelt gratitude to YTO Group and Chairman Yu Weijiao for their strong support to the School. In his speech, he stated that both sides share common social responsibilities and mission in scientific and technological innovation, talent cultivation, and promoting industry development. Through this powerful collaboration, they will effectively translate innovative research in the logistics field into application achievements that truly benefit society, making more contributions to social progress and a better life for humanity.
Xie En, Deputy Dean (in Charge of Work) of the School, solemnly announced the official launch of the signing ceremony. Witnessed by many leaders from Tongji University and YTO Group, Shi Qian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, and Ye Feng, Vice President of YTO Group, respectively signed the cooperation memorandum on behalf of the two sides.
In the future, the two sides will work hand in hand in industry-education integration, talent cultivation, and achievement transformation, jointly promoting the development of intelligent logistics and vigorously constructing a modern logistics system.
Liu Run, Assistant to the President of Tongji University, Director of the President’s Office, Director of the Office of External Liaison and Development, and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Tongji University Education Development Foundation, and Peng Ke, Vice President and Director of the President’s Office of YTO Group, respectively signed the Donation Agreement of Tongji University YTO Education Award Fund on behalf of the two sides.
The Shanghai YTO Public Welfare Foundation donated 3.6 million yuan to establish the Tongji University YTO Education Award Fund, which is earmarked to support the development of the Management Science and Engineering major and help the School’s A+ disciplines reach a new level of development.
Theme Report: Destiny and the Times
In the highlight of the event, Chairman Yu Weijiao delivered the theme report Destiny and the Times, reviewing YTO’s entrepreneurial journey of rapidly growing into one of the leading express logistics enterprises in China over 20+ years. He shared stories behind major strategic decisions—from founding YTO to pioneering the “no holiday all year round” service concept, embracing e-commerce, establishing an aviation fleet, global expansion, and digital transformation—revealing how YTO paved its path to success through perseverance.
When discussing the future development trends of China’s logistics industry and the Group’s strategic goals, Chairman Yu emphasized that YTO’s future lies in seeking productivity through technology. He stated that scientific and technological innovation will lead YTO’s future, driving industry transformation while boosting China’s economic development.
Chairman Yu Weijiao’s wonderful sharing ignited the audience’s enthusiasm for questioning. In response to questions about the demand for high-end logistics talent, risk avoidance in international expansion, and the upward and downward development of logistics enterprises, Chairman Yu gave frank and sincere answers, winning bursts of applause from the audience.
He also shared the “three secrets” to life achievements with Tongji students: first, diligence, the foundation of all careers; second, being down-to-earth and immersing oneself in frontline work, as true knowledge comes from practice; third, learning to make good friends, as good friends are a lifetime treasure. He earnestly advised everyone to cherish the precious university years, live up to their youth, and realize their life values where the country needs them most!
