Mon, Sep 08, 2025
On September 8th, the Financial Times (FT) officially released its 2025 Global Master in Management (MiM) Ranking. The Master of Global Management (MGM) program at Tongji University School of Economics and Management (Tongji SEM) achieved an impressive result, rising to 8th place worldwide, breaking into the global top 10. It has remained in the global top 25 for four consecutive years, setting a new record in the program’s ranking history! This breakthrough marks a historic milestone for the program and underscores Tongji SEM’s growing recognition as a leader in international management education.
Tongji SEM performed exceptionally well in multiple key indicators, further highlighting its strong comprehensive strength. It retained its 1st place globally in the Value for Money Rank, making it “a benchmark for high-value management education”. For three years in a row, 100% of graduates secured jobs within three months after graduation, reflecting both efficiency and quality of employment, and strong recognition from employers. Meanwhile, the program ranked 13th globally in Careers Service Rank: SEM’s Career Development Center supports students through initiatives such as “Company Visit Sessions” and “Personalized Career Coaching”, effectively bridging campus and workplace. It also secured the 14th position globally in Career Progress Rank, reflecting graduates’ notable progress in aspects such as job promotions, company scale, and career advancement. In Aims Achieved section, Nearly 90% of students reported achieving their core study goals such as “enhancing management capabilities”, “entering target industries”, and “broadening global perspectives” through the program. Additionally, the Alumni Network Rank has further expanded—alumni resources across five continents provide current students and graduates with ongoing career support, collaboration opportunities, and cross-cultural exchanges.
The leap in this year’s ranking stems from Tongji SEM’s sustained commitment to internationalization, practical-oriented learning, and ESG integration. The program is taught entirely in English with mixed cohorts of Chinese and international students. SEM has established partnerships with over 100 top business schools in more than 30 countries worldwide, offering diverse international exchange programs including dual-degree programs, semester exchanges, and overseas summer schools, with more than 300 overseas study slots annually. In 2024, Tongji SEM further expanded its global footprint by establishing its first overseas campus: the Tongji SEM German-Sino Center in Berlin, enhancing its global education ecosystem and empowering students to develop a global perspective.
The school also emphasizes the integration of academic knowledge and practical experience. In April 2025, it launched the first Innovative Practice & Action Learning (IPAL) project, collaborating with companies including JD Digits Industrial, YTO Express, and Transsion Holdings. Guided by both academic and industry mentors, students worked on real strategic projects using tools from courses like Global Supply Chain Management. Over a three-month cycle, mixed teams of Chinese and international students conducted research on issues such as globalization strategies, digital transformation, and ESG practices, producing practical deliverables such as market entry project proposals. This approach enhances students’ innovation, cross-cultural teamwork, and problem-solving abilities—core advantages in their career competitiveness.
This leap in ranking is the result of Tongji SEM’s continuous commitment to a student-centered and quality-driven education philosophy. It also validates the school’s mission of cultivating management talents who are well-versed in Chinese business practices and prepared for global leadership. Moving forward, Tongji SEM will further deepen international cooperation, optimize curriculum, and strengthen career services—making the MGM program a premier choice for students worldwide and a vital link between Chinese market and global management practices.
Tongji SEM holds multiple prestigious accreditations, including AACSB, EQUIS, and CAMEA. This ranking breakthrough is both a milestone in the school’s development and a new stepping stone toward becoming a world-class business school. Looking ahead, Tongji SEM will continue to uphold its mission of “Creating New Management Knowledge, Nurturing Industry Elites, and Promoting Sustainable Development,” contributing Chinese wisdom and Tongji’s strength to the global management education.
