Warwick Business School Delegation Visits Tongji SEM to Deepen Strategic Partnership

On September 8, Professor Andy Lockett, Dean of Warwick Business School (WBS), led a delegation to visit the School of Economics and Management at Tongji University (Tongji SEM). Dean Xie En and Deputy Dean Liang Jian extended a warm welcome on behalf of the school.
The delegation included Professor David Elmes, Professor of Practice, WBS Global Energy Network, Course Director, WBS Masters in Management, Dr. Zhun Liu, Senior Teaching Fellow in Finance, and Ms. Danni Ning, Recruitment Manager. During the visit, both sides reflected on 15 years of fruitful collaboration and explored new opportunities for partnership in the era of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
Dean Xie highlighted that the longstanding collaboration has built a strong foundation for future innovation, emphasizing the importance of cross-border and cross-cultural cooperation. Dean Lockett recognized Tongji SEM as a key role in the internationalization of Chinese higher education and expressed his hope to further upgrade joint programs to help shape the future of business education.
Vice Dean Liang reviewed major milestones since the partnership began in 2010, including faculty and student exchanges, executive programs, and academic forums. Tongji SEM’s international elective modules on Green Energy and China’s Digital Economy have been particularly well received, attracting over 1,000 WBS MBA participants.
Looking ahead, the two schools plan to launch new initiatives, such as Fast Path-Way To Master Degree Programs in Information Systems and Digital Innovation and Joint Master’s Program in FinTech, with a focus on integrating AI into traditional disciplines.
