Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the approval results for 2025’s major research projects. The major project “Theoretical Mechanism and Empirical Research on Labor Market Equilibrium and Skill Matching in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” led by Researcher LI Wenchao, has been successfully approved for funding. The result marks a significant breakthrough for SEM, elevating it to a new level in theoretical and methodological innovation within the field of labor market research in the era of artificial intelligence.
The research team is composed of a distinguished and highly accomplished group of scholars, including Prof. ZHONG Ninghua, Prof. Kenneth KIM, Prof. CHEN Song, Prof. CHEN Shouming, and Prof. YAN Shumin. It also brings together outstanding academics from prestigious institutions both in China and abroad, such as Xiamen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the National University of Singapore. Focusing on the multi-dimensional impacts of AI on the labor market, this project aims to analyze its structural transformation and reshaping mechanisms through theoretical modeling and empirical analysis. Its goal is to build a policy system within the Chinese context, contributing to high-quality employment and sustainable development.
Focusing on key research issues in response to major national needs in economic, social, technological development, and national security, NSFC’s major projects play a supportive and leading role in enhancing China’s original innovation capacity in basic research through interdisciplinary and comprehensive research.
