讲座摘要:

In this talk, we consider freight transport in urban areas using passenger rail network as an environment-friendly alternative to currently predominantly used fossil-fueled trucks and address one of the essential problems, called freight rail transport scheduling problem. For such an alternative to be economically viable and implantable in practice, optimization approaches are needed to provide high-quality solutions with in very limited computation time. We develop several mathematical models, each with its own advantages in terms of theoretical analysis and problem solving. These theoretical analyses lead to various optimization methods of different natures: from MILP solver, to effective and robust genetic algorithms, to exact methods based on branch-and-price and Benders decomposition.

演讲嘉宾简介:

Chengbin Chu received his BSc and Msc in Electrical Engineering in 1985 and 1987 respectively. He pursued his PhD program at INRIA and obtained his PhD in Computer Science and Production Management in 1990 from the University of Metz (France).

Afterwards, he continued working at INRIA successively as an Expert Engineer, and a Research Officer until 1997. From 1997 to 2008, he was a Professor in Industrial Engineering at University of Technology of Troyes and the Founding Director of the Industrial Systems Optimization Laboratory. From 2008 to 2017, he was with Ecole CentraleSupélec and held a Chair in Supply Chain Management sponsored by multinational companies. He is currently a Professor at ESIEE Paris, Université Gustave Eiffel. He is interested in modeling, analysis and optimization of manufacturing systems and supply chains. He is author or coauthor of more than 200 articles in international journals such as IEEE Transactions, Operations Research, SIAM Journal of Computing, International Journal of Production Research, Transportation Research Part B, etc. One of his articles received the “1998 Best Transactions Paper Award” from the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. For his academic and application activities, he received in 1996 the First Prize of Robert Faure Award.

In 2005, he was named “Changjiang Scholar Programme” Chair Professor by the Chinese Ministry of Education. He was an Overseas Chair Professor successively at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Tongji University, and Northwestern Polytechnical University. He served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation from 2001 to 2004. He has also served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and the IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, and a member of Editorial board of Computers & Industrial Engineering.
