2015 Fall Semester Welcome Ceremony Held for International Students of SEM

On September 10th, 2015, the welcome ceremony for new international exchange students of SEM is held at the 3rd floor Lecturing Hall of Tongji Building Block A. Ms. Grace Shou, Director of International Cooperation Office of SEM presents at the ceremony to deliver a welcome speech and brief on the development and achievement of SEM over the past 30 years. Team of International Cooperation Office, SEM elaborates in detail on the visa registration, academic affairs regulations, and campus life. In the afternoon, a city tour is organized by International Cooperation Office to visit Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center and Shanghai Museum to learn about Chinese culture and history.

 

This week is the orientation week for the international students. Besides the campus tour and city tour organized by SEM, Buddy Program is created to bridge the communication between Chinese students and foreign students by various interactive activities. These will help them to accommodate themselves more quickly into the local life and study and to know more about Chinese Culture.

 

Currently there are 141 new International Students registered in SEM this semester from 24 countries and regions. And they are from 56 universities around the world. Among them 7 are Bachelor Dual-Degree students, 23 Master Dual-Degree students and 111 non-degree exchange students. Besides, there are also 50 international students registered before this semester continuing to study here in SEM. With the increased internationalization process, SEM draws more and more international students from business schools in Europe and North America, which enjoy high reputation and have established long-term partnership with SEM. Most of them have acquired the accreditation of AMBA, EQUIS or AACSB, the so-called Three-Crown authoritative accreditations for business schools. This year, four new partners were established, namely, Arizona State University in the US, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in the Netherlands, and ED HEC in France, who begin to send students to Tongji SEM.
