At the invitation from Tongji SEM, Professor Mahesh Nagarajan, the Chair of Operations and Logistics Department of the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia, visited our school on October 20, 2015. Serving as the Associate Editor of Management Science, Professor Nagarajandelivered an inspiring lecturetitled Clinical and Admission Decisions in Emergency Rooms: Implications to Operations and Medicine. A meeting was arranged between Professor Nagarajan and Professor HUO Jiazhen, Dean of Tongji SEM after the lecture. As also planned during his visit, Professor Nagarajan, along with Professor TONG Chunyang, had a field tour to Shanghai Oriental Hospital (SOH) and held fruitful discussions with the experts from SOH regarding the management practices and related data about its healthcare system. Some research projects for further collaboration with the SOH wereexplored.
