SEM Young Faculty Publish Research Paper on Top Financial Journal

Tue, Mar 21, 2017

Dr. CAI Xiaoming, the young faculty from Department of Economics and Finance, got offer to publish his research paper of Search Frictions, Competing Mechanisms and Optimal Market Segmentation, on Journal of Economic Theory, world’s top research journal in the field of finance.

Dr. Cai et al (2017) analyzes when different types of buyers will visit some seller simultaneously, and when different types of buyers will visit different sellers. In a Walrasian market, buyers know all the prices that sellers post and will trade with the seller charging the lowest price. But in a real-life market, the information that buyers possess regarding sellers are limited and buyers need to keep searching for the best possible deal. How buyers and sellers meet are thus important for the market outcomes. Their results help understand the matching and sorting patterns between buyers and sellers in online markets.

Dr. Cai graduated from VU Amsterdam, Holland, with his main research fields in Macro-Labor and Applied Microeconomics.

Besides, some other research papers by SEM faculties from Department of Economics and Finance, were published on global top journals. For example, Does Corporate Governance Enhance Common Interests of Shareholders and Primary Stakeholders, by Prof. ZHONG Ninghua, was published on Journal of Business Ethics. Prof. Kenneth A. Kim, Dr. Joseph MAI and Dr. CAI Xiaoming, published research papers on Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Comparative Economics, Economica, Labor Economics, and Canadian Journal of Economics.
