From Nov 20^th to 24^th, 2017, SEM successfully hosted a group of MBA students from University of Maastricht with a five-day workshop on “Doing Business in China”. Participants of this group boast many years of working experience in various industries, such as technology, consultation, architecture, IT and finance industries.

The workshop consisted of five-day seminars delivered by Tongji faculty and three field trips to companies, offering insights of Chinese business environment, Chinese culture and how to do business in China.

The topics of lectures covered Introduction to Chinese Economy, Consumer Behavior and Marketing in China, Confucianism and Chinese Business Culture and China in Transition. These foreign students discussed and communicated actively with professors who putting forward their particular perspectives and integrated theories with practice. To better combine the lectures, we also organized visits to Candex Displays (China) Co., Ltd., MSH CHINA Enterprise Services Co., Ltd., and Royal DSM N.V. Through the field trips and the interactions with the companies’ executives, students have a direct understanding how the foreign companies conduct business in Chinese marketing.

In addition, 16 Tongji part-time MBAs were also invited to join in the lecture on Chinese business culture, enabling everyone to interact with each other the difference and diversity of eastern and western cultures and thus have a better understanding of the multi-culture.

University of Maastricht is a top national research university in the Netherlands.
