From June 8^th to 9^th, the “2021 Virtual Tongji Day” jointly organized by Tongji University and Technische Universität Darmstadt was successfully held. Tanja BRÜHL, President of Technische Universität Darmstadt, FANG Shouen, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University, LEI Xinghui, and LOU Yongqi, Vice Presidents of Tongji University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

As one of the important contents of the event, Professor HUO Jiazhen and Professor DUAN Yongrui from Tongji SEM, Professor Ralf ELBERT and Professor Christoph GLOCK from Technische Universität Darmstadt delivered keynote speeches at “Smart Logistics” symposium. The topics were the bullwhip effect of the supply chain in the digital context, the pricing and ordering decisions of online retailers, the simulation and optimization of the cross-subject pallet exchange platform, and the energy-saving optimization of the warehouse intelligent lighting system.

Technische Universität Darmstadt and Tongji University signed the first intercollegiate cooperation agreement in 1980. It is one of the earliest international partners of Tongji University. In 2013, the cooperative relationship between the two universities was upgraded to a strategic partner. In 2014, Technische Universität Darmstadt set up a liaison office in Tongji. At present, the two universities have different forms of cooperation in the fields of environment, machinery, automobiles, architecture, economics and management, vocational education, transportation, German and political science. The Department of Management and Logistics of Technische Universität Darmstadt has maintained close cooperation with Tongji SEM on the doctoral double degree program for many years, and has jointly cultivated many doctoral students. The two parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation and bring the joint training of Chinese and German doctoral students to a new level.
