Recently, AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) officially awarded Tongji SEM the 5-year AACSB re-accreditation. The AACSB accreditation standard is one of the world’s authoritative business education standards, and only around 5% of business schools have obtained the accreditation.

Previously, Tongji SEM passed AACSB accreditation for the first time in 2016. During this 3-day virtual on-site re-accreditation review, the AACSB Peer Review Team (hereafter “PRT”) had over 16 meetings with the University and School leaders, teaching management team, representatives of faculty and students, and International Advisory Board members, comprehensively evaluating the following areas–Tongji SEM’s development strategy and goals, programme portfolio, faculty, students, research, resources and administration, social contribution, internationalisation, AoL system (Assurance of Learning) and so forth. The PRT members highly appraised the achievements of SEM and also put forward valuable suggestions for the development and continuous improvement of the school.

In recent years, Tongji SEM adheres to the main line of improving quality, with the goal of improving students’ innovation ability and market competitiveness, comprehensively implements the overall improvement plan of talent cultivation quality, strengthens the construction of high-level talents and promotes the cultivation of innovative talents through various channels such as disciplinary integration and international accreditations, and has achieved remarkable results. The discipline of Management Science and Engineering was rated A⁺ in the fourth round of Chinese National Discipline Evaluation, and the Master in Management (MiM) programme has ranked among the top 40 in the Financial Times for 5 consecutive years, and SEM has also been rated as one of the “Top 10 Asia Pacific Business Schools” by Financial Times.

The international accreditation has effectively promoted the improvement of the quality and scale of the school’s internationalization, the optimization of the structure of the faculty, and the rapid expansion of the high-level talent team. In recent years, SEM has continuously made new achievements in scientific research strengthening, market competitiveness, social influence, continuous improvement, talent cultivation mode innovation and so forth.
