In March, due to the pandemic, Tongji SEM launched the “Cloud Classroom” again, adopting online teaching methods to conduct learning activities.

199 undergraduate courses and 91 graduate courses have been switched to online teaching; more than 300 master’s theses and 80 doctoral theses have been reviewed; 38 virtual thesis defenses have been held; 7 lectures including lectures for international students, academic lectures, and advanced lectures have been held; the postgraduate interviews also have been well organized during this period.

In the past two years, SEM has deeply integrated information technology with education, continuously explored the form of online teaching, and assisted teachers in mastering online teaching technology, which has promoted the reform of learning methods and laid a solid foundation for online teaching.

As the first national high-quality online public course on engineering management in China, the MOOC course “Engineering Project Management” delivered by Professor DING Shizhao has attracted over 260,000 students to take the course, and the number of visits has reached one million. Because of the rich teaching contents and various teaching methods, associate professor QIU Canhua’s course “Operations Management” are also highly praised by students.

In cooperation with Undergraduate & Postgraduate Teaching Administration Office, International Cooperation & Accreditation Office held the lecture “Enterprise Intelligent Transformation in the New Era” to international students. This is one of the frontier courses of Intelligent Transformation Courses jointly launched by Tongji SEM and SAP. As a special guest, Mr. XU Lei, Director of Strategic Planning and Operation of SAP Labs China, met with more than 70 international students and led them into the era of digital economy from the perspective of the industry.
