Recently, Professor Le Yun from the Department of Construction Management and Real Estate led a team of teachers and students including Hu Yi, Chen Jianguo, Tang Kewei, Zhang Xinyue and Jiang Kaiwen to co-author a paper titled From Complex Project Management to Complex System Management: Schedule Management Practice of Beijing Daxing International Airport Project, which was published on the Management World, a top journal of management in China.
Through the case study of the schedule management practice of Beijing Daxing International Airport Project, the research team revealed the basic connotations of complex project management and complex system management and the essential difference between them in major engineering scenarios, proposed the “single peak” theory and the “double peak” theory found in the complex integrity evolution of major projects, and designed a transformation process of the complex system management mode for major projects based on the complex integrity. These findings indicate that the management theory of complex systems is of great guiding value for solving the problems about complex integrity of major projects, and promotes the construction and development of the management theory system for major projects.
