The Vice President of the University of Manchester Visited Tongji SEM

On November 30th 2023, Professor Fiona DEVINE, Vice-President of the University of Manchester, Professor Kenneth MCPHAIL, Dean of Manchester Business School, Mr. Richard COTTON, Head of International Department of the University of Manchester, and Ms. Sherry FU, Director of the China Centre of Manchester Business School visited Tongji University. Professor ZHAO Xianzhong, Vice President of Tongji University, Professor SHI Qian, Chairman of School Council, and Professor XIE En, Acting Dean of Tongji SEM, met with the visiting guests.

The two sides exchanged the status quo of their respective development over the past five years and had in-depth discussions on the existing cooperation, such as the joint programme for doctoral students and the joint scientific research of faculty members; meanwhile, the two sides put forward exploratory proposals and suggestions on the transformation of the cooperation of MBA degree programmes. The meeting deepened the mutual understanding and consolidated the friendship between the two sides, and laid the foundation for promoting further cooperation between the two sides in various aspects, such as the cultivation of high-level international talents and first-class academic research.

Professor Fiona DEVINE, as a member of the International Advisory Committee of the College, has been giving great support to the strategic cooperation between the two sides based on mutual trust and mutual responsibility. In 2009, the two sides started the cooperation of the Tongji-Manchester MBA Dual Degree Programme, which has trained more than 400 graduates over the past ten years, and with the deepening of the cooperation, the two sides began joint program for PhD students in 2019.
