On the evening of December 2nd, the “100 Experts’ Investor Education Tour” of the 2023 SSE Cup-National University ETF Elite Competition was held in Room 309 of Tongji SEM Building A. The event included a lecture on “The High-Tech Wave and Investing in Technology Stocks”. Professor ZHONG Ninghua, Deputy Dean of SEM, presented a Letter of Appreciation to Ms. ZHANG Yongjun and Mr. LU Wenkai, two experts in the field, for their contribution to the lecture. Mr. LI Baoguo, Senior Manager of China Merchants Fund, Mr. GU Yifeng, Manager of the Investor Education Centre of Shanghai Securities News, and Prof. CAO Xiaoling, Director of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Administration Center of SEM, attended the event.

Speech by Prof. ZHONG Ninghua, Deputy President of Tongji SEM

Deputy President ZHONG Ninghua presented a Letter of Appreciation by to Ms. ZHANG Yongjun

Ms. ZHANG Yongjun is currently the Director of SSE Investor Education Centre and Editor-in-Chief of SSE Investor. She has been involved in the construction of China’s capital market brand project and is an expert in investor education. She has initiated and promoted various investor education brand activities in the Chinese securities market, including high-end forums, shareholder school, SSE Investor, SSE Cup-University ETF Elite Competition, listed company research and university elective courses.

Deputy President ZHONG Ninghua presented a Letter of Appreciation to Mr. LU Wenkai

Mr. LU Wenkai is the Professional Deputy Director of the 4th Investment Management Department of China Merchants Fund. He has more than 12 years of investment research experience, including more than 5 years of public investment management experience. He is also an outstanding graduate of Tongji SEM. China Merchants Fund Management Co., Ltd. was established on 27 December 2002 and is the first Sino-foreign joint venture fund management company in China. As of 30th September 2023, China Merchants Fund ranked No. 5 in the industry in terms of non-goods size and No. 1 in terms of bond fund size.

Mr. LU Wenkai presented a thematic report

During the event, Mr. LU Wenkai presented a report on investment opportunities and methods for technology stocks. He analysed the past two rounds of technology waves in the United States and provided insights into the investment opportunities of the current AIGC wave. The report focused on the segmentation of upstream arithmetic chips and EDA, midstream algorithms and downstream software services. Mr. LU Wenkai explained the iterative thinking of the probability and odds system. He also shared investment opportunities and approaches in technology stocks. As an outstanding alumnus of Tongji SEM, Mr. LU Wenkai provided guidance to students on study and career development. He emphasised the importance of prioritising studies and stressed that hobbies and interests can open up future opportunities. He encouraged students to focus on the present and maintain a strong belief in their potential for the future.

Ms. ZHANG Yongjun promoted education on financial literacy and rational investment

Ms. ZHANG Yongjun introduced the background and development of the establishment of Shanghai Securities News and SSE Investor as the Internet investor education base of Shanghai Securities News. She also delivered a speech on wealth knowledge. She stressed the importance for students to establish rational investment concepts as early as possible. She gave a brief introduction to Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and introduced students to quantitative investment trends and methods. She congratulated the team of ZHANG Wenchu and YIN Haiqing from our university for winning the first Financial Modelling Training Camp for Shanghai Universities. She also congratulated Tongji SEM for winning the “Award for Excellence in University Cooperation” of the First Shanghai University Financial Modelling Camp Selection Competition.

This activity not only enhanced students’ risk awareness but also improved their financial literacy.
