The 15th China Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation and Innovation Conference was recently held in Beijing. WAN Gang, President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), SUN Yao, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, XU Xiaolan, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and LU Pengqi, Deputy Director of the China State Intellectual Property Office, attended the conference. The conference honoured the advanced units and individuals who have contributed to the deep integration of industry, academia and research in 2023. Led by Tongji University General Engineering Control and Digital Management Team of Tongji SEM, Beijing New Airport Construction Headquarters, Shanghai Puhua Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Binhai International Airport Co. jointly completed the Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Project, which won the second prize of China Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement Award 2023 with outstanding innovation results.

In the context of high-quality development in China’s new era, the digitalisation of engineering management and the integrated control of major projects are important development directions for scientific research and talent training in the field of engineering management. The Tongji University Engineering General Control and Digital Management Team cultivates talents by serving the needs of national and industrial large-scale engineering construction and following the development trend of digital technology in the industry. The team explores the establishment of a new model of talent training that closely integrates major engineering practice and digital technology innovation capability, and combines industry, academia and research with value co-creation of multiple subjects, and has long been engaged in theoretical research and technological development of integrated control and digital transformation of major air traffic hubs. Its R&D results have been deeply practiced and applied in more than 20 major airports, such as Beijing Daxing Airport, Hongqiao Traffic Hub, Tianjin Airport, etc., and have achieved good economic and social benefits in the past ten years.

The teaching and research team led by Professor WANG Guangbin of Tongji SEM has been awarded the 1^st prize of China Transportation Association for its theoretical research, technological research and development, and talent cultivation in the field of large air traffic hubs, as well as the “excellent” postgraduate guidance team of Tongji University.

The China Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award is an award approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC and the State Science and Technology Award Office in 2009. It is the highest award for collaborative innovation in China for the industry-academia-research community, and aims to reward advanced units and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to innovation in industry-academia-research cooperation. The China Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement Award, as one of the important sub-awards of this award, aims to reward outstanding enterprises, universities and research institutes that have made breakthroughs in the process of promoting the integration of industry, academia, research and application in industry-university-research cooperation, and have jointly carried out scientific research and technological breakthroughs on a project-based, enterprise as the main body and market-oriented basis, and have accelerated scientific and technological innovation and application by realizing self-reliance of high-level science and technology, making breakthroughs from 0 to 1, and filling the gaps of domestic science and technology, accelerating the process of scientific and technological innovation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, and making important contributions to the new development pattern of deep integration of industry, academia and research with all factors, multiple fields and high quality.
