On the morning of July 20, Tongji SEM held a seminar on the Tongji-Alberta Master of Management Analytics (MMA) joint program at Tongji Building A. Dean XIE extended a warm welcome and introduced Tongji’s strengths: a century-old research university with world-leading civil engineering and FT Global Masters in Management ranked 8th globally. SEM boasts two A+ disciplines and strong academic output. He highlighted the MMA program as an innovative platform integrating Chinese and Western academic and industrial resources. Dean MEHROTRA expressed appreciation for Tongji’s support. He noted the program bridges China and Western academia, and promised to leverage Canadian enterprises and consulate resources in Shanghai to deliver internship opportunities for students, while advancing faculty exchanges between the two institutions.

Alberta’s MMA features four core modules and industry-based capstone projects to cultivate talents capable of AI-driven business decisions. Tongji’s Associate Professor Ruitong WANG proposed linking local enterprises to supply real project data and organizing joint international student teams for practical training. Both sides agreed their disciplinary strengths are highly complementary amid current global exchanges.

The two parties also discussed recruitment positioning, targeting interdisciplinary talents proficient in both business and data analytics to differentiate the program from traditional MBAs or technical master’s degrees.Following the meeting, representatives took a group photo. Both universities pledged to build a prestigious Sino-foreign business program and explore further joint training models under the AI-driven technological revolution.
