Fri, Jun 11, 2010

Prof. Dajian ZHU, Director of Institute of Sustainable Development and Management, Faculty of School of Economics and Management, Tongji University was invited by Davos World Economic Forum to attend the 19th World Economic Forum on East Asia, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from June 5 to 8.

Prof. ZHU delivered a sub-forum discussion named “The rising green jobs and green entrepreneurs”. He indicated that green growth, green investment and green jobs are the world’s third wave of the green movement. The first wave in the early 20th Century is Nature Conservation Movement; the second one from the beginning of 1960s is Environmental Control Movement, while the third wave is actually to take the environment and economic integration of green development, which is significant for human being to get rid of 2008 financial crisis. Green economy requires the society to achieve three strategic changes: Enterprise development needs to change from shareholders’ benefits maximization to comprehensive benefit maximization. Labors’ work skills training and intelligence developing need to change from tradition to green. Government and its departments need to change from the traditional regulation-based management to public-private partnership based and social involved management. ZHU’s ideas were fully agreed by the participants.
