On Jul 26^th, 2011, Dr. HUO Jiazhen, Dean of School of Economics and Management (hereinafter referred to as SEM), Tongji University, received official notification from the Association of MBAs to confirm that accreditation of the MBA/EMBA provision offered by SEM, Tongji University, has been endorsed by the Association’s International Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB). Accreditation has been awarded for the maximum period of 5 years as allowed under the current review cycle. Hereby SEM becomes the 5^th business school in mainland China that has been awarded with AMBA accreditation after Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Guangzhou Sun Yat-Sen University, and Wuhan University.

 

From May 9^th to 10^th, 2011, the AMBA Assessment Panel led by Dr. Robert OWEN, Director of Accreditation & Business School Services carried out a two-day on-site assessment visit to our school’s MBA/EMBA programs. The panel members include: Prof. Martyn JONES, Chairman of the Panel and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kingston University; Prof. WEI Kwok Kee, Dean (CB) of College of Business, City University of Hong Kong; and Prof. WANG Zhongming, former Dean of School of Management, Zhejiang University and AMBA Chief Representative in China.

 

During the two-day assessment visit, Prof. PEI Gang, President of Tongji University, Prof. LI Yongsheng, Executive Vice President, Prof. CHEN Yiyi, Vice President, Prof. DONG Qi, Vice President, and Prof. LEI Xinghui, Executive Deputy Dean of Graduate School of Tongji University held talks respectively with the assessment panel and listened to panel’s opinions and suggestions to the further development of our MBA/EMBA programs.

 

Founded in 1967, AMBA, together with AACSB and EQUIS, are regarded as the three most authoritative accreditation systems of business schools worldwide. The successful AMBA accreditation will be of great significance to help promote SEM’s internationalization process, advance SEM’s participation in the education ranking of international business schools, improve the international competitiveness of SEM’s MBA/EMBA students, and finally become a world-class business school.
