Dean of School of Economics, Aalto University, Finland, Visits SEM

On Feb. 10, 2012, a delegation from Aalto University, Finland, led by Prof. Ingmar Björkman, Dean of School of Economics, visited our school. Prof. HUO Jiazhen, Dean of SEM, warmly welcomed the visiting guests. The two parties introduced in details their respective history, current situation and strategy objectives, then made further discussion on deepening the mutual students exchange, faculty exchange, scientific research cooperation, and talents introduction etc. Mr. HAN Ma, Chairman of the Tongji-Aalto Design Factory, also joined the meeting.
Previously, from Feb. 6 to Feb. 9, when Aalto University delegation visited our university, professors in economics and management from the two universities already exchange views on academic cooperation. Prof. Hannu Seristö, Vice President of Aalto University and professor of economics, met with Prof. SHI Qian and Associate Prof. Yu Xiubao from SEM. The two parties discussed further cooperation potentials in scientific research .
School of Economics, Aalto University, named as Helsinki School of Economics previously, was founded in 1904 and was regarded as the first business school in Europe. It was merged into the new Aalto University in Jan., 2010. The school has got the three authoritative accreditations by AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), AMBA (Accredited MBA) and EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System). It was ranked as the 22nd in the British Financial Times (FT) ranking of the European Business Schools in 2011.
Tongji signed the Double-Degree Master Program Agreement in International Design Business Management (IDBM) with Aalto University in 2011. Our school joined this interdisciplinary program as a member. Two master students were sent to study in Helsinki School of Economics for oneyear in Sep, 2011.
