On Nov 26th, 2013, an official letter from China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (hereinafter referred to as CDGDC) and China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee informs Prof. HUO Jiazhen, Dean of TONGJI SEM that SEM has successfully passed the accreditation of Chinese Advanced Management Education Accreditation (hereinafter referred to as CAMEA), making SEM one of the first business schools in mainland China that have acquired such accreditation. SEM’s acquisition of CAMEA accreditation is another significant proof of education quality by authoritative educational organs after the international accreditations as EQUIS, AMBA and PMI-GAC.
CAMEA accreditation was initiated and developed by CDGDC and China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee in spring, 2012 in order to promote the continued improvement of business administration education in China. It is of great significance for SEM’s disciplinary assessment, domestic and international ranking, future development of MBA/EMBA programs.
SEM submitted the formal application of CAMEA in June and had field visit in July, 2012. In Dec, 2012, CAMEA accreditation working committee approved SEM’s application. SEM’s self-audit report and supporting documents were submitted in April 2013. On Jun 14th to 15th, a peer review expert delegation led by group leader Prof. CHEN Guoqing, chair professor and Director of Academic Degree Committee of School of Economics and Management of Qinghua University, visited SEM and had an on-site assessment. Related staffs from Assessment Department of CDGDC joined the visit and witnessed the whole assessment process.
Prof. CHEN Yiyi, Vice President of Tongji University and Prof. LEI Xinghui, Executive Associate Dean of Graduate School of Tongji University were present at the peer review meeting on behalf of the university. Over 10 interview groups were conducted among the experts with SEM’s management team, major staffs of MBA/EMBA programs, members of SEM’s MBA/EMBA Education Supervisory Committee, relative chief staffs from supporting departments as Finance, Administration and Faculty Human Resource Management, and representatives of faculties, students, alumni, and collaborative companies. The expert group also observed the course teaching, and visited the teaching and office facilities. Combined with SEM’s self-audit report, peer review experts gave high recognition and evaluation of SEM’s MBA/EMBA programs and unanimously agreed to award SEM 5-year accreditation. The proposal by the expert group was then approved via votes by the accreditation working committee later.
SEM’s CAMEA accredited programs include: MBA program, Tongji-Manchester MBA Double-degree Program, Tongji-Case MBA / MSM-Finance Double Degree Program, EMBA Program, Tongji-Mannheim EMBA Double Degree Prorgram, and Tongji-Taiwan Sun Yat-sen EMBA Double Degree Program.
