Tongji MSc in Enterprise Management ranked the 35th Worldwide and the 2nd in China by Financial Times

According to the Financial Times ranking of the global masters in management program 2018, the MSc in Enterprise Management Program of the School of Economics and Management (SEM) of Tongji University continued to rise to the 35th out of the global Top 100, ranking in the Top 50 for three consecutive years.

Explanation of the 2018 list

In terms of the salary increase of graduates, Tongji SEM ranked No.4 globally with an increase rate of 89%, No.5 in career development, No.11 in career development services, and No.17 in cost performance. The employment rate of graduates from Tongji SEM Master Program reached 100% within three months after graduation that only 11 out of the global Top 100 schools have met this standard and 4 kept for two consecutive years.

The Top 10 of the list was taken by institutions of Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Austria. A growing number of business programs from emerging countries are taking participation in the ranking with India, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Russia, Hungary and Slovenia all doing well. Only two Chinese mainland business schools made the Top 100.

 

As an academic master program, Tongji MSc in Enterprise Management systematically teaches the theoretical basis of economic management, research methods and leading courses in major fields, while keeping interacting with top international business schools to enhance students’ international vision and practical skills with over 35% of international students in the program.

Ying Lei, who graduated from Tongji Economic Management Master Program in 2015 is now the product manager of Alibaba. Ying believes that the unforgettable learning and practice experience in Tongji laid a solid foundation for him to cope with the complicated and changeable challenges in his work. Though majored in geographic information system for his bachelor degree, Ying is more interested in business management and entrepreneurship, so he chose Tongji to pursue his master degree in economic management. Tongji SEM is an open and inclusive platform providing Ying with many opportunities to understand the society and himself. During his graduate period, Ying continued to seek out suitable jobs through internships, and BCG’s consulting experience made him more aware of his passion: to make a product that would change the world. He recalled that the course fully delivered in English is particularly memorable, allowing him to strengthen his foreign language and professional skills in an immersive atmosphere. The postgraduate course also emphasizes teamwork. In class, the team members come from various countries, and students work together to make wonderful presentations with rich and diverse thinking and cultures, that have benefited him a lot in his work in terms of cooperation ability as a product manager plays the role of the project leader who has to cooperate with designers, developers, test engineers, operators and other people in each position to make a product. Ying Lei’s idol Jobs said “connecting the dots“. Compared with the career nodes from Tencent to Alibaba in recent years, experience in Tongji SEM  has been the most important dot in his journey to date.

Founded in 1984, the School of Economics and Management of Tongji is one of the first batch to establish the school of economics and management in China.
