On February 22nd, 2019, the Welcome Ceremony for New International Exchange students of TONGJI SEM was held successfully at Auditorium 301 of Tongji Building A. This semester, there are 103 new international exchange students registered in SEM from 20 countries and regions around the world. Among them 3 are Bachelor Dual-Degree students, and 100 non-degree exchange students. Besides, there’re 42 existing registered international exchange students in SEM.
Prof. CHEN Song, Deputy Dean of SEM presented at the ceremony to deliver a welcome speech and brief on SEM’s mission and vision, the core value and development of SEM. He wished the foreign students would enjoy a memorable study and experience during the exchange semester. Staffs of International Cooperation and Accreditation Office elaborated in detail on the visa registration, academic affairs regulations, and campus life. A campus tour was guided for all the new students to better know the surrounding areas. And a city tour was organized to let students visit Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center and Shanghai Museum to learn about Shanghai’s urban development and the culture and history of China.
In the first academic week, the orientation meeting for new international students will be held by the International Students Office of Tongji University. The Ice-breaking Party of Buddy Program will be organized to help bridge the communication between Chinese and foreign students. These will help foreign students to accommodate themselves more quickly into the local life and study and to know more about Chinese Culture.
In recent years, Tongji SEM has successfully acquired the 5-year re-accreditation of AMBA and EQUIS and accreditation of AACSB last year, the so-called Three-Crown authoritative accreditations for business schools, which make SEM one among the very few universities in mainland China obtaining the so-called Three-Crown authoritative accreditations for business schools. At the same time, there are more and more international students choosing to do exchange in Tongji SEM, a proof of SEM’s continuous improvement on talent cultivation and international influence. SEM will continue to explore collaboration with top universities around the world, to promote international exchange among Chinese and foreign students and to develop management talents with international vision.
