Professor Stephan WAGNER from ETH Zürich Visited SEM

From May 24th to 30th, 2025, Professor Stephan WAGNER, Dean of the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC) at ETH Zürich, led a delegation to our School for a week-long visit. This visit aimed to deepen the strategic partnership between the two institutions in research innovation, academic exchanges, and other possible future collaborations.

On May 26th, Mr. YIN Wen, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, and Prof. SHI Qian, Chairman of the School Council of the School of Economics and Management, among other faculties, warmly welcomed Prof. WAGNER and his delegation. In a friendly atmosphere, both sides introduced the development histories and strengths in detail. They engaged in fruitful discussions on topics such as joint talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation, laying a solid foundation for subsequent substantive collaborations.

On May 28th, several professors from the Department of Management Science and Engineering, including Prof. HUO Jiazhen, Prof. LIU Huchen, Prof. DUAN Yongrui, Prof. ZHENG Xiaojin, Prof. HUANG Guanwei, and Prof. ZHANG Yanxia, held a specialized symposium with Prof. Wagner. Focusing on the field of logistics and supply chain management, both sides exchanged views on specific matters such as talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation. Both agreed to collaborate in multiple areas, including joint scientific research, doctoral student exchanges, and university-enterprise collaborative innovation, jointly exploring the future of logistics and supply chain management.

On the same day, Prof. WAGNER delivered an academic lecture titled “Strategic Supplier Management” to our faculties and students. The lecture centered on the core elements of strategic supplier management, covering precise strategies for optimizing supplier selection, effective means of relationship governance, and forward-looking risk prevention measures. It elucidated how to elevate supplier relationships into strategic assets for enterprises, thereby facilitating their long-term sustainable development. The lecture sparked enthusiastic participation from the audience, with faculty and students actively engaging in in-depth interactions with Prof.Wagner.


On May 29th, Prof. WAGNER participated in the “Tongji Case Day – A Visit to JinkoSolar Co., Ltd.”, experiencing firsthand the practical integration of industry, academia, and research at our college. After gaining a deep understanding of Jinko Solar’s development status, Prof. WAGNER offered multiple constructive suggestions for enhancing the company’s internationalization level, providing valuable references for its global strategic layout.

This visit by Prof. WAGNER and his delegation represents a significant milestone in the exchanges and interactions between the two institutions, and also marks a new starting point for deeper and broader collaborations. It is expected to inject new impetus into the development of both sides and yield fruitful results.
