From July 17^th to 21^st, 2017, 32 Executive MBA students from ESC Rennes Business School (France) participated in a 5-day “Doing Business in China” workshop hosted by Tongji-SEM.

These EMBA students with several years of working experience are from various industries, mainly in logistics, architecture, IT, finance and hotel industries. The Doing Business in China workshop is divided into three parts: academic lectures, company visits as well as culture visit.

The topics of lectures involve Confucianism and Chinese Business Culture, Consumer Behavior and Marketing in China, Strategies in International Procurement in Emerging Market and China Strategy – Quo Vadis. Students discussed and communicated actively with faculty while faculty shared their insights and integrated theories with practice with students. To better understand Chinese business practices, students visited GEMÜ Valves (China) Co., Candex Displays (China) Co., Ltd, and Michelin (China) Investment Co., Ltd where top management of these enterprises introduced from the perspective of enterprise operation in China and helped students have an intuitive apprehension of the China’s economy and its current market situation. Also, students gained better understanding about the history and culture of China by visiting Shanghai World Financial Center, Yu Yuan Garden, Shanghai Urban Planning Museum, Jade Buddha Temple and Zhu Jiajiao, a water town close to Shanghai.
