Wed, Oct 18, 2017

On the 16th of October, after a whole day onsite visit and peer review, Tongji SEM officially becomes the 1st member of EDAMBA(European Doctoral Programs Association in Management & Business Administration) in China. This is another great step for Tongji SEM’s internationalization of SEM’s business school education and its PhD student’s cultivation.

In July, SEM launched the application for EDAMBA. The application received unanimous approval by the Executive Committee of EDAMBA. In late August, Prof. RUAN Qingsong, Deputy Dean and Ms. WU Boning, Assistant Dean, attended the annual meeting of EDAMBA on behalf of Tongji SEM. Prof. RUAN briefed the development of SEM and its PhD programs. On 16th of Oct, the chairman of EDAMBA, Prof. Dimitris Assimakopoulos, faculty of EMLYON Business School, France, and Prof. John Ulhøi, faculty of Universitas Arhusiensis, Denmark, visited Tongji SEM and did onsite visit and interview with its faculty and administrative staffs. Prof. JIN Fu-an, Senior Deputy Dean of SEM, met with the two guests on behalf of the school.

After communication with SEM’s management team, PhD supervisors, PhD candidates and graduates, and administrative staffs, the two guests gave a high appraisal to the development strategy of SEM’s PhD programs, teaching and research level of PhD supervisors, academic quality of PhD programs, and the internationalization. The two parties did an active discussion on the cultivating of Sino-Euro joint PhD program, co-coaching of PhD students, developing of young PhD supervisors and the application for financial supports of joint research from European Union.

Internationalization of PhD student cultivation is a significant trend of business school development. After acquiring several international accreditations, namely AACSB、EQUIS、AMBA and PMI-GAC, SEM has become the 1st member of EDAMBA in China. SEM will fasten the internationalization development of PhD student cultivation by combining international accreditations’ and associations’ diversified channels and high-quality resources with our own strengths. PhD students’ research ability will be enhanced through inviting professors from top overseas universities to be our adjunct faculty or PhD supervisors. Joint research publication of papers will be realized by co-coaching PhD students to carry out scientific research. Career development channels will be expanded by PhD graduates recommendation channels. Young faculty team will be enhanced by employing excellent PhD graduates.
