On November11^th, Dr. Christian BODE, Authorized Commissioner of DAAD and Prof. Axel WERWATZ, faculty of Technical University of Berlin together with faculty representatives of CDHK visited Tongji SEM. Prof. LI Yuan, Dean of SEM met with the guests and discussed in detail on how to promote in-depth academic exchange between China and Germany.

Prof. LI briefed the current development of SEM and proposed to strengthen the communication with DAAD in the future. He hopes DAAD could help Tongji SEM to enhance in-depth cooperation with first class German universities, to promote more faculty interaction and to expand the joint supervision of PhD students.

DAAD, founded in 1925, represents 231 German universities and 128 university student bodies. It supports over 100,000 German and international students and researchers around the globe each year – making it the world’s largest funding organization of its kind.

The Technical University of Berlin is the first industrial university in Germany. TUB and SEM started Dual-PhD Degree Program cooperation from 2011. Up till now, there are several PhD students from both universities finished their exchange, among whom, Dr. DING Feng, our school’s PhD graduate has successfully obtained degrees from both institute this year.
