On November 15^th, 2020, the Forum on Urban Ecological Civilization Construction and Resource Utilization of Construction Waste was held at Tongji SEM. More than 60 officials, experts and business representatives from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Shanghai Municipal Government, Tongji University, City University of Hong Kong, Fudan University, Shanghai Urban Construction Materials Co., Ltd, etc., participated in the forum online or offline. Professor Shi Qian, Senior Deputy Dean, delivered an opening speech, and Professor LIU Guangfu of the Department of Management Science and Engineering hosted the forum.

In the aspect of the construction of urban ecological civilization, government officials and university experts explained the concept of “urban ecological civilization” and expressed their views on how to promote the construction of urban ecological civilization; in terms of resource utilization of construction waste, business representatives introduced the current situation of the industry, pointed out the key issues in the development of the construction waste recycling industry and made suggestions for the future development of the industry from the perspective of enterprise development. Some of the speakers expounded their views on the relationship between the resource utilization of construction waste and the construction of ecological civilization.

This forum integrated the views of experts and scholars from the governments, universities, research institutions and enterprises, with discussion about the current situation, problems and suggestions of the construction of urban ecological civilization and the resource utilization of construction waste. The achievements of the forum provide reference for decision-making  and basis for the government to formulate policies.
