In the afternoon of May 30, led by XUE Lingjian from the EE Centre and Tutor JI Maomao, students from Information Management as well as Information Systems and Logistics Management majors of the 2021 class went to the Shanghai headquarters of YTO Express Group Co.,Ltd. by bus to experience the cultural heritage and technological innovation of the company. Vice President XIANG Feng, and Director of Human Resources Centre, WANG Meng, warmly received the students and teachers.

During the visit, the students went to the Collection Centre to learn about the whole process of express delivery sorting. With the high-speed automated equipment and orderly operation process, the whole set of modern courier sorting system made the students feel that the traditional courier industry is also changing and improving rapidly.

Afterwards, everyone walked into the exhibition hall to appreciate the road of development of Yuantong and to experience the charm of express delivery up close. The transformation and upgrading of YTO is supported by the dramatic leapfrog development of China’s economy, and the students learnt that they should be bold enough to adapt to new developments, grow in knowledge and talent in their studies and work, and contribute to the development and progress of society.

At the welcome meeting, students listened to a report by Vice President XIANG Feng, with the theme of “Technology Application Drives the Development and Change of Express Logistics Industry”, and learned about the driving factors and cutting-edge technologies of the rapid development of China’s express industry, as well as the scientific and innovative achievements of YTO in information technology, delivery tools and sorting equipment. The students also had an in-depth exchange with XIANG Feng on topics of interest such as the development direction of YTO, personal capacity building, opportunities and challenges. WANG Meng answered the students’ concerns about internship and employment, career growth and other issues.

The event effectively promoted the integration of academic and practical development, and was another exchange between the two sides after YTO set up the educational award fund in Tongji University. The event came to a successful end with the chanting of the slogan “Together we can reach the world”.
