On 31 May 2023, RAO Wenqin, Senior Director of the Talent Development Department of Deppon Express, Dong Bianlin, Deputy Dean of SEM, as well as CHEN Xun, the head of the Career Development Centre attended the “Ministry of Education II Employment Education Program: Deppon Express-Tongji SEM, Human Resource Enhancement Project”. It also attracted nearly 10 international students and a total of 40 students from the College of Transportation and Engineering to join the event.

DONG Bianlin expressed her gratitude for the contribution made by the enterprises in guiding the School to enhance the vocational ability of our students, and looked forward to further deepening the cooperation between the school and the enterprises.

RAO Wenqing gave a lecture on “Trends in the Logistics Industry and Changes in Talent Demand in the New Era”. The lecture was divided into two sections: “New Trends in the Logistics Industry” and “Enter Deppon Express”. RAO introduced the Chinese speed of the logistics industry, the new pattern of logistics in the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the future trends and challenges of logistics transportation. She also introduced the mission and values of Deppon Express, its product system, technology empowerment, smart logistics, consulting and social responsibility. In the sections of “Talent Demand under the New Trend of Logistics Industry” and “What do you need to do to prepare”, RAO introduced the changes in demand for talents in modern logistics, new logistics jobs and Deppon’s special talent cultivation plan, using outstanding alumni and employees as examples. She said before employment, it is important to understand the industry situation, consolidate professional foundation, improve comprehensive ability and actively participate in internship.
At the end of the lecture, the Career Development Centre of our School presented RAO Wenqin with the appointment letter of “Career Development Tutor for Students of School of Economics and Management, Tongji University”.

In the subsequent group building and leadership training activities, the Career Development Centre arranged a dragon boat experience for the students and teachers, which reflected the spirit of working together. Under the guidance of the coach, the students and teachers mastered the basic moves of dragon boat paddling, and the water exercise tested the teamwork ability of the students and teachers. During the dragon boat racing stage, both showed their spirit of unity and striving for excellence, deepening their understanding of each other and enhancing the centripetal force and cohesion between the two teams. After the race, RAO presented the winning and participation awards to the two teams.

The students who participated in the program said that the program not only gave them a better understanding of the development trend and talent requirements of the logistics industry, but also enhanced their communication, collaboration and team building skills during the actual training activities. At the end of the event, the school and the enterprise took a group photo together to mark a successful conclusion to the event.
