Students and faculty of MGM celebrated the Moon Festival together

Fri, Sep 29, 2023

On the afternoon of September 28th, first- and second-year students of Master of Global Management (MGM) and faculty gathered in the baking classroom to celebrate a special Mid-Autumn Festival. They experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture through singing and mooncake making and celebrated this ancient and emotional festival together.

Mrs. LI Haiying, Academic Director of the programme, gave a speech. She welcomed students from all over the world and encouraged them not only to pursue academic studies, but also to deeply experience and learn about different cultures, especially traditional Chinese culture.

Next came a series of wonderful cultural performances. Jack XU and HU Xinyu from Canada introduced the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival, singing the popular Chinese song “How rare the moon, so round and clear” with emotion, Alesia and Daria from Russia sang a cheerful Russian song called “Кто ты?”, and Lamia from Morocco sang “Make you feel my love” with great passion. The delightful melodies added to the festive atmosphere.

The highlight of the event was the making of the mooncakes. Under the guidance of the dessert chef, the students made delicious and meaningful mooncakes with their own hands. Each participant put their emotions and blessings into the round mooncakes, reflecting the feelings of reunion and thoughts of love during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

At the end of the event, a group photo was taken. Every smiling face added a special meaning to this mid-autumn activity.

The MGM programme will continue to provide more opportunities for international students to experience traditional Chinese culture, and we look forward to the participation of all interested students. We believe that through these activities, international students will not only gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, but will also build deep friendships with their classmates from around the world. Interested students are welcome to attend our next event!
