On the afternoon of 27th February, Mr. HUANG Wei, General Manager of the Information Technology Department of Guotai Junan Securities, and Mr. TANG Jue, Head of Comprehensive Affairs of Information Technology of the company, as well as a team of experts, visited SEM. They had an in-depth discussion with Mr. ZHONG Ninghua, Vice Dean of SEM, Ms. CAO Xiaoling, Director of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Centre, and Ms. LI Haiying, Lecturer of the Department of Economics and Finance, on the integration of industry and education for talent cultivation. The Guotai Junan team also visited Tongji History Museum and interviewed students from Tongji University who had applied for internships at Guotai Junan. This event marked the official cooperation between SEM’s internship system and Guotai Junan’s Information Technology Line. Students who passed the interview will receive one-on-one professional training and guidance from professional mentors, and embark on their journey of digital finance internship.

Guotai Junan IT experts visited Tongji SEM

On behalf of SEM, Mr. ZHONG Ninghua, Deputy Dean, warmly welcomed the arrival of the delegation from Guotai Junan Information Technology Line, and specifically introduced SEM’s work in talent cultivation, disciplinary development and integration of industry and education. He said that in order to actively respond to the national development strategy and meet society’s demand for multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, digital and intelligent financial talents, Tongji SEM and Guotai Junan are working together to deepen the integration of industry and education and innovate talent training models. Both parties will jointly build a collaborative platform for institutional practice and training, providing students with rich opportunities for financial technology practice, enabling them to master the application of AI technology in various financial scenarios in practice, and helping students become leaders in the future financial industry.

Mr. HUANG Wei, General Manager of Information Technology Department, said that in October 2023, Tongji University officially signed a contract with Guotai Junan Securities Co., Ltd. to jointly build an industrial education integration base. This marked the beginning of cooperation between Guotai Junan’s information technology line and Tongji SEM. It also marked the first step for both sides to jointly cultivate financial technology composite talents. It’s expected that both parties can further promote the construction of practical training bases, which will help to feed the company’s talents in advance, cultivate talents in a targeted manner and enable students to gain more as well.

Symposium on deepening the cooperation

Both parties have achieved great progress and results since the signing of the agreement. During the symposium, both sides proposed proposals for continued cooperation and envisioned deeper mutual development in the future.

Team from Guotai Junan Securies Visited the History Museum of Tongji SEM

The delegation from Guotai Jun’an visited the SEM History Museum. Mrs ZHANG Yue, Deputy Director of the Alumni and Corporate Relations Office, introduced the development of SEM. Mr. HUANG Wei and his delegation gained a deep understanding of the nearly 70-year history of the School of Economics and Management of Tongji University, gained insights into the spirit and value pursuit of generations of SEM, and praised the achievements of SEM’s internationalization and disciplinary development.Interview for Internship at Guotai Jun’an

In the afternoon, students of Finance, Management Science and Engineering, Information Management and Information systems attended the interview for internship positions at Guotai Junan Securities. The positions included open securities innovation research, product manager, big data platform engineer and testing engineer. Interviewers included: TANG Jue, Head of Comprehensive Affairs of Guotai Junan Information Technology, QIAN Weijia, Head of Data Technology Group/Internal Control Technology Group of Information Technology Department, ZHAO Yongjie, Head of Trading Settlement Business Innovation Group of Information Technology Department, XIA Houkang, Information Technology Department; LIU Dongliang, Information Technology Department Product Manager; HUANG Xiaoxia, Information Technology Department Recruitment Manager; and LI Haiying, Tongji SEM Economics and Finance Department Lecturer. The students demonstrated solid professional knowledge during the interview, reflecting the charm of SEM students. Their internship performance will serve as an important reference for Guotai Junan’s recruitment of financial technology talents.
