On the 18th of December, Member of SEM’s Advisory Committee, Prof. Dennis Hanno, Dean of Graduate School and Vice Provost of Babson College, was invited to visit SEM-Tongji. Prof. HUO Jiazhen, Dean of SEM, Prof. RUAN Qingsong, Prof. CHEN Shouming and Prof. CHEN Song, Deputy Deans of SEM, Prof. SHI Qian and Prof. ZHOU Xianghong, Assistant Deans of SEM, and other SEM staffs presented at the meeting.

Dean HUO briefed to Dean Hanno about SEM’s current development and introduced the vision of SEM’s developing strategies in details. Dean Hanno shared Babson’s experience in Alumni services, executive training programs, and management of the undergraduate and graduate programs. SEM’s staff had a very fruitful discussion with Dean Hanno regarding his advices on “how to do marketing of EDP”, “how to improve alumni work”, “how to control the teaching quality of faculty”, “how to make the most suitable financial revenue plan for a business school” and etc. Further insights and valuable suggestions were made by Dean Hanno respectively.

In September, the Fourth Advisory Committee Meeting was held successfully in Yuntong Building, School of Economics and Management. Currently, SEM has invited three international members of Advisory Committee, namely, Mr. Thomas Sattelberger, Chief Human Resources Officer, Director of Labor and Member of Management Board, Deutsche Telekom AG, Germany; Prof. Michael Luger, Director of Manchester Business School, UK; and Prof. Dennis Hanno, Dean, Graduate School and Vice Provost, Babson College. SEM’s Advisory Committee comprises of influential government officers, entrepreneurs, presidents of universities, deans, experts and professors renowned in the field of economics and management both home and abroad. The committee is to provide consultations on crucial decision-making for SEM’s medium-long term development planning, and offer propositions for SEM’s development strategy; especially regarding its further internationalisation based on the fulfillment of its mission and realization of its vision.
