The first batch of students of Tongji-Case Western Reserve MBA/MSM-Finance Double Degree Program successfully completed their study trip from the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland at the beginning of August, 2013.

 

During the overseas semester, the students finished their last three finance courses. In order to make the students further understand financial practice in America, a lot of teaching activities were arranged, including communication and discussion with professors, alumni of CWRU, and senior executives in finance field. In the last week, the students visited Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Bloomberg,Ernst &Young, and other famous companies. Through this, the students had the chance to understand different business and culture in different companies, meanwhile, strengthened their career directions. By the end of the study trip, deputy dean of School of Economics&Management of Tongji University, Prof. Dr. Wang Guangbin and director of double degree program, Dr. Li Yibin were invited to present the closing ceremony.

 

Although four-week study trip was short, all the students were impressed by the beautiful campus, perfect facilities, considerate arrangement, abundant activities, furthermore, deep contact with finance industry in New York. This was the first time for the students to experience the western culture, which was important to broad their international views and build up global way of thinking. These will make them qualified enough in the fierce competition in their own fields.

 

Set up in 2009, Tong-Case Western Reserve MBA/MSM-Finance Double Degree Program is the first international program that masters’ degree in finance from a top US university offered in mainland China, and also the first double degree program combined MBA and MSM-Finance in China. In 2011, 30 students were admitted as the first batch. They finished all the courses by this summer, and will start their diploma thesis in the next semester.
