Exchange and Cooperation Agreement Signed between Rotterdam School of Management and Tongji SEM

On the afternoon of Oct. 11th, 2014, Exchange Agreement was signed by Prof. Steef van de VELDE, Dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University and Prof. Huo jiazhen, Dean of School of Economics and Management, Tongji University, symbolizing the official kickoff of the cooperation between the two schools. From fall semester 2015, the two schools will initiate students exchange program on postgraduate level. Credits will be transferred and tuitions will be waived under this exchange program. In addition, both parties are in active exploration in the cooperation of double bachelor degree and other potential areas.

International cooperation and exchange is one of SEM’s significant features and advantages. Currently, SEM has established collaborative partnerships with over 60 renowned business schools and universities in 26 countries in areas including faculty exchanges, scientific research, and student exchange. Tongji SEM has been awarded both AMBA and EQUIS Accreditation. Moreover, it ranked 65th in the newly issued Global Mater of Management Program of British Financial Times, 79th in global EMBA program listing. Eduniversal issued 2014 Top 1000 Global Business School, Tongji SEM ranks 7th in China. In QS World University Rankings by Subject 2014 – Accounting & Finance, Tongji SEM ranks among 101-150. Its discipline “Managing Science and Engineering” is among the top 10 in National Higher Education Discipline Assessment launched by the Ministry of Education, and “Management” gained A+ on WU SHU LIAN Ranking list, MBA ranked 9th on Forbes Best Chinese Business School Ranking. 

Tongji University began programs in Economics and Management in 1956, and was one of the earliest universities in China to launch such majors. The School of Economic Management was founded in 1984, and merged with the Business School to become the School of Economics and Management (hereinafter referred to as SEM) in 1998. It is the 30th anniversary of Tongji SEM this year. After 30-year development, SEM has gradually on its way to realize its own ideology “Innovating, Educating and Serving” and fulfill its goal “Making it an internationalized and research-based school”. 

Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (or RSM) is an international business school of Erasmus University Rotterdam located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.  RSM is ranked as one of the best European business schools, including 10th in the Financial Times meta-ranking and 3rd in Western Europe by Eduniversal. RSM is among 1% of the business schools worldwide which possess the distinguished Triple Crown Accreditation – AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. 

Prof. Steef van de VELDE was invited to participate in the Business School Dean Workshop held by Tongji SEM on Oct. 11th. During the workshop, Business school deans and experts worldwide will discuss “How the international accreditation facilitates collaboration between business schools in emerging economies and those in the developed countries”.
