On 24 Feb 2017, the welcome ceremony for new international exchange students of SEM has been held at the 3rd floor Lecturing Hall of Tongji Building Block A. On behave of SEM, Prof. CHEN Song, Associate Dean of SEM presents at the ceremony to deliver a welcome speech and brief on SEM’s mission and vision of SEM. He wishes that the foreign students can make some achievements during the exchange semester. Prof. Jerome Bon, Senior Associate Dean, makes a speech and encourages students to have open mind to learn about China. Ms. Luisa LU, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office of SEM presents at the ceremony to deliver a welcome speech and brief on the development and achievement of SEM. Team of International Cooperation Office, SEM elaborates in detail on the visa registration, academic affairs regulations, and campus life. In the afternoon, a city tour is organized by International Cooperation Office to visit Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center and People’s Square to learn about Chinese culture and history.

On the 4^th of March, Chinese students will invite all the international students to an ice-breaking party held by Student Union of SEM. Buddy Program is created to bridge the communication between Chinese students and foreign students by various interactive activities. These will help them to accommodate themselves more quickly into the local life and study and to know more about Chinese Culture.

Totally 73 new International Students register in SEM this semester from 19 countries and regions. They are from SEM’s 36 partner universities around the world. Besides, there are also 44 international students registered before this semester continuing to study here in SEM, most of whom are dual degree students. With the increased internationalization process, SEM draws more and more international students from business schools in Europe and North America, which enjoy high reputation and have established long-term partnership with SEM. Most of them have acquired the accreditation of AMBA, EQUIS or AACSB, the so-called Three-Crown authoritative accreditations for business schools. In order to meet the requirements of incoming international students, Tongji SEM is devoted to develop more English-taught courses and faculty with international background.
