SAP executives visit Tongji SEM to talk about the innovative application of AI in business processes

On the evening of May 13th, Tongji SEM held an lecture featuring Stefan Steinle, SAP Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Support, and Jens Trotzky, SAP’s Head of AI Technology. Together, they presented a special report titled “SAP Serving Customers: AI-Driven Key Business Processes, the Application Approach of Global Leading Enterprises”. The lecture was held in the lecture hall on the 3rd floor of Tongji Building A, attracting over 100 teachers and students

Prof. ZHONG Ninghua, Deputy Dean of Tongji SEM, presented letters of appreciation for the Higher Lecture Hall to the two keynote speakers. Professor ZHONG Ninghua, kicked off the lecture with a passionate opening speech, emphasizing that this was not only a knowledge-sharing event but also an integral part of the “Cutting-Edge Course on Intelligent Transformation” co-constructed by both parties. This course combines the deep cooperation between Tongji SEM and SAP, aiming to provide students with the most cutting-edge and vivid knowledge and cases of intelligent transformation. Prof. SHI Qian, Chairman of the School Council, and Prof. ZHONG Ninghua, Deputy Dean of the School, presented letters of appreciation for the Lecture to the two keynote speakers. In his opening remarks, Prof. SHI Qian, Chairman of the School Council, provided an in-depth interpretation of the current “digitalization of education” strategy being vigorously promoted by the Ministry of Education, as well as Tongji University’s educational philosophy of “digital intelligence, green transformation, and integration”. He pointed out that these strategies and philosophies coincide with SAP’s layout in the field of commercial AI, providing broad space and unlimited possibilities for cooperation between the two parties. Professor SHI expects it to cultivate more excellent talents with innovative thinking and digital intelligence capabilities. Tongji University and Germany share a long history and cultural ties. The cooperation between the two parties in teaching and talent cultivation not only deepens the cooperation between Tongji and German companies such as SAP but also opens a new chapter for in-depth exchanges and collaborative development in education, scientific research, and other fields

In his report, Stefan Steinle delved into the opportunities and challenges brought about by business transformation and AI technology in customer service. He pointed out that business models are undergoing subtle changes amid the digital wave. Meanwhile, SAP has grown from being a startup to being a global software giant with annual sales exceeding 30 billion euros, ranking among the Top 500 companies in the world. However, advances in cloud computing and technology have raised higher standards and expectations from customers for SAP. In today’s rapid development of artificial intelligence, how to use these advanced technologies to enhance the user experience has become an important strategic direction for SAP. As the company’s core service department, it is imperative to actively adopt AI technology to innovate and optimize user service processes

Jens Trotzky, SAP Head of Artificial Intelligence in Customer Support shared around the topic

Next, Jens Trotzky introduced SAP’s current and developing AI solutions in detail. Through vivid cases and practical demonstrations, he showcased SAP’s latest innovations in applying AI to customer service. Additionally, he shared the implementation process of these achievements from a technical perspective. Jens Trotzky emphasized that the introduction of AI in the customer service department brings significant value to customers. AI technology has penetrated all aspects of the customer service lifecycle, including problem warning, risk avoidance, work order creation, processing, and resolution, thereby greatly improving the efficiency of user support.

Students actively exchanged with experts

During the interactive session, students actively asked questions and had in-depth discussions with the two guests. The lecture not only deepened their understanding of SAP and AI technology but also sparked their interest in digital transformation and the field of artificial intelligence.

Mr. XU Lei, Director of Strategic Planning and Operation of SAP LABS CHINA, reviewed the history of cooperation between Tongji SEM and SAP

Tongji SEM and SAP have a long and deep history of cooperation. Mr. XU Lei, Director of Strategic Planning and Operations at SAP China Research Institute, provided detailed introductions and sharing. The two parties have established close cooperative relations in brand promotion, talent cultivation, curriculum development, research innovation, and other aspects. They have achieved remarkable results in the co-construction of the “Cutting-Edge Course on Intelligent Transformation”, forming a five-in-one industry-education integration and collaborative education mechanism that includes “curriculum construction, case construction, textbook construction, MOOC creation, and teacher training”. Guided by the educational philosophy of “digital intelligence, green transformation, and integration”, this course combines SAP’s rich industry experience with Tongji SEM’s academic advantages, providing students with learning opportunities closely integrated with cutting-edge practices.
