Research Fruits of Prof. ZHU Dajian Awarded 2nd Prize of The 8th Shanghai Decision-making Consultation Research Achievement

The research fruits on Building a Low Carbon Economy City in Shanghai, led by the team of Prof. ZHU Dajian, from the Department of Public Administration of SEM, was awarded the Second Prize of The 8th Shanghai Decision-making Consultation Research Achievement.
 
The research established a theoretical framework and evaluation indicators based on the decoupling of economic and social development and fossil energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. It studies the intensity, per capita, total and trends of Shanghai carbon dioxide emissions in the past 2 decades, noting that Shanghai carbon source is mainly from the industry. The research carries out scenario analysis on the energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions in Shanghai till 2030. It points out that the countermeasures are to substantially reduce industrial energy consumption and carbon source to make room for future growth, construction and transportation energy consumption and carbon emissions. Prof. ZHU’s research fruits have been attached with great importance by corresponding government officials and bureaus, and the final results have been officially published as academic monographs.
