Vice Provost of University of Oregen visits TONGJI

Prof. Stephen Durran, Vice Provost for International Affairs, University of Oregen, and Mrs.Anne E.Haberkern, Director of American Heritage Association, visited Tongji University on 4 Nov. 2009. Prof. Qi DONG, Vice President for International Cooperation, met with the two visitors and introduced the profile of international exchanges in our school on behalf of Tongji University. Dr. Hongwei HUANG, Deputy Director of International Exchange & Cooperation Office, Mr. Zhu CHEN, and Ms. Yuexian SHOU, Vice Director of International Office, SEM, also presented in the meeting.

 

The two parties exchanged possibilities on the summer school program in which University of Oregon sends students to SEM, Tongji University in summer vacation, which starts on the end of June or the beginning of July in 2010. Both parties expressed willingness to establish strategic cooperative relationship and lay the foundation for deeper cooperation, such as dual-degree program and faculty exchanges.

The University of Oregon (UO) is a public, coeducational research university in Eugene, Oregon, United States. The second oldest public university in the state, UO was founded in 1876, and graduated its first class two years later. The University of Oregon, one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities, is organized into eight schools and colleges—six professional schools and colleges, an Arts and Sciences College and an Honors College. The Carnegie Foundation classifies the University of Oregon as a "high research activity" university. Richard W. Lariviere is the current president of the university. The University of Oregon, one of 62 members in American University Association, is rewarded by US News &World Report as the third-level stated university, ranked as No.128 all through US in 2007, No.112 in the lists of Best American University 2008.

The Business School of University of Oregon, located in the College of Arts and Sciences, is composed of a vibrant group of 16 full-time faculty. It is recognized by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and is listed as one of 296 distinguishing business schools throughout the world by Princeton Review 2009.
