2011 3rd Advisory Committee Meeting held in SEM

On Oct 15th, 2011, SEM’s Third Advisory Committee Meeting was held. Three new international members joined the committee this time. Prof. Michael Luger, Dean of Manchester Business School, UK, Mr. Amir Reza as representative of Prof. Dennis Hanno, Dean of Undergraduate School, Babson College, US, and Prof. Anders Aspling respresenting Mr. Thomas Sattelberger, Chief Human Resources Officer, Director of Labor and Member of Management Board, Deutsche Telekom AG. Other member participants include: Prof. GUO Chongqing, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. WU Qidi, Former President of Tongji University, Prof. ZHOU Zhen, Vice Director of the United Front Work Department of Shanghai, Mr. GU Feng, CFO & Executive Director of Capital Operation Dept., Saic Motor Co., Ltd., Mr. SHEN Xuejun, Vice President of Siemens Ltd. China Shanghai Branch, and Prof. HUANG Yuxiang, Former Dean of SEM and Director of the Advisory Committee. Prof. JIANG Fuming, University Vice Chairman, and Prof. DONG Qi, University Vice President also attended the meeting together with the management team from SEM.
 
 
Prof. HUANG, Director of the Committee, presided the meeting. Prof. HUO Jiazhen reviewed the recent three-year development of SEM and proposed the plans for future development. A panel discussion followed focusing on topics of “SEM’s New Cooperative Mode with Corporations and Alumni”, “SEM’s Faculty Cultivation and Development Mode”, and “SEM’s Internationalization Trend—Challenge and Opportunity”. The members proposed creative and insightful suggestions particularly regarding alumni management and top-notch faculty recruitment. The committee suggests that SEM should stick to its development strategy: address the local challenge with a global perspective while maintaining the disciplinary distinctiveness of Tongji University.
