The Accounting major was selected as a national-level first-class undergraduate program construction site in 2020. Leveraging the regional advantages of the Yangtze River Delta and building upon Tongji University’s academic heritage, it focuses on creating new interdisciplinary features integrating accounting, information technology, and engineering management. The professional training highlights a new model of “Accounting Technology + Intelligent Information + Management,” emphasizing the application of intelligent accounting in practice. Through close cooperation with the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, a top-notch innovative and interdisciplinary talent cultivation model is established, including an “Environmental Science – Accounting Dual Degree” program. Accounting education is conducted with an international perspective, maintaining long-term exchange and cooperation with international accounting organizations like CPA Australia and CIMA, as well as internationally renowned universities. The talent cultivation philosophy is positioned as “International Perspective, Chinese Sentiment, Innovation and Pragmatism, Professional Excellence and High Moral Standards.”

Adhering to the principles of educating people as the foundation, student-centeredness, emphasis on characteristics, integration of undergraduate and postgraduate education, broad-category cultivation, coordinated credit hours, and interdisciplinary innovation, and based on fostering virtue and cultivating talents, this major addresses the needs of national economic development. It aims to cultivate elite, innovative accounting talents who are suited to the requirements of modern information technology and intelligent transformation, master the relevant principles and knowledge of the accounting profession, possess comprehensive qualities in the intelligent accounting direction of the accounting major, have a solid theoretical foundation, broad professional knowledge, and strong management capabilities. Graduates will possess the potential to become outstanding accountants or engage in accounting research, have the ability for continuous learning, can update their professional knowledge and improve their skills according to new social and economic development requirements while possessing strategic thinking skills, and have an international perspective. Graduates have been highly sought after by the renowned Big Four accounting firms, financial institutions such as banks and securities companies, and key domestic enterprises. They receive high social evaluation in terms of further study/employment rates, salary levels, and employer satisfaction rates.
