Finance

The Finance major falls under the applied economics discipline and is a field of study that examines how individuals, institutions, and governments acquire, spend, manage funds, and handle other financial assets. Our university’s undergraduate Finance program was established in 1998. It is oriented towards cultivating outstanding talent, fostering the core socialist values, and is committed to developing builders and successors for socialism who are well-rounded morally, intellectually, physically, aesthetically, and labor-wise. The program aims to equip students with a systematic mastery of the fundamental principles of Marxism, firm socialist political ideology and professional ethics, and proficiency in the financial theory and innovative knowledge required for the rapidly developing digital economy. This includes knowledge and skills closely related to digital and intelligent finance, such as financial risk management, financial product design and pricing, financial analysis, investment and financing management, financial trading technology and operations, and related fields of the digital economy. Graduates will possess a solid financial theoretical foundation and strong capabilities in solving practical problems, embodying comprehensive qualities of “general knowledge base, professional competence, innovative thinking, practical ability, global perspective, and social responsibility,” meeting the demand for digital economy and intelligent finance professionals with distinctive characteristics in the socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics.

This major reflects the characteristics of talent cultivation in the context of the digital economy, adhering to the educational philosophy of “disciplinary integration and innovation-driven development.” It emphasizes the cross-integration of knowledge in “Mathematics + Computer Science + Finance,” commits to fostering the application of digital and intelligent financial theory knowledge and innovation capabilities, and aims to establish a “diverse + innovative” talent cultivation model for the new era. Teaching revolves around fundamental theories of finance, innovative financial tools and applications, intelligent financial modeling, and quantitative analysis tools. The program offers a distinctive dual-degree program in “Finance – Mathematics and Applied Mathematics,” along with multiple practical and experimental components such as teaching practice activities, on-campus experimental platforms, and off-campus internship bases. Over the years, it has cultivated a large number of high-end finance professionals. Graduates pursuing further studies primarily go to renowned universities at home and abroad, while employment destinations include well-known financial institutions, government departments, state-owned enterprises, and multinational corporations. The program ranks among the top domestic universities in terms of further study/employment rates, salary levels, and employer satisfaction, enjoying a high academic status and influence both domestically and internationally. In 2019, the Finance major was selected as one of the first national-level first-class undergraduate program construction sites.
