摘        要：东方灵盾的使命是开发具有自主知识产权、国际先进水平、支撑中国科技创新的专业化情报系统。在这个使命的驱动下，东方灵盾开发了世界传统药物专利数据库、LindenPat（灵盾世界专利检索平台）。然而，东方灵盾使命型创新与创业也有不利的一面，即全部利润投入探索性创新，引起投资者的不满；市场开发、围绕市场需求的利用式、改进性创新投入不够，企业的收入不足以支持长期的探索式创新。在资源约束的情形下，东方灵盾面临既要坚持使命驱动的探索式创新、又要开展围绕市场需求的利用式创新的困境。

Abstract: The mission of East Linden is to develop a world standard professional intelligence information system in support of China’s scientific and technological innovation with its own intellectual property rights. Driven by this mission, East Linden has developed the World Traditional Medicine Patent Database (WTMPD) and LindenPat (Linden World Patent Retrieval Platform). However, there are serious challenges facing the Mission-Oriented Innovation and Entrepreneurship of East Linden. First, the dissatisfaction of investors has arisen as all the firm’s profits have been invested into the exploratory innovations. Second, the investments committed into market development and market-oriented incremental and exploitative innovations are not sufficient. Consequently, the incomes of the enterprises are not enough to sustain long-term exploratory innovations. Under the constraint of firm resources, East Linden is encountering a dilemma regarding how to balance the exploratory innovations to fulfil the organizational mission and the exploitative innovations to address the market demands.
